County, the town was first settled in 1789

City began in 1853; the Livonia, Avon and Lakeville short
line is still in operation today
• The Avon Corn Fest is held the second Saturday in
August
• The Avon Inn, a Greek Revival Mansion, was built
in 1820 to accommodate patrons of the Health Spa
• Both Cool Whip and Barilla Pasta are made in Avon
• St. Agnes Catholic School was founded 133 years ago
• Early feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton and former
slave Sojourner Truth once spoke at the historic Avon Opera
