• Situated on the east bank of the Genesee River in northern Livingston County, the town was first settled in 1789

• The village is home to Circle Park, a beautiful village green featuring a monolithic Civil War monument

• A graceful 5 arch bridge once carried the Genesee Valley Railroad over Conesus Outlet

• Avon Driving Park was the original site of the Avon Sulphur Springs Health Spa. A race track was added in 1836. Today, the park’s 56 acres boast baseball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a skating rink and picnic pavilions

• Passenger train service between Avon and New York City began in 1853; the Livonia, Avon and Lakeville short line is still in operation today

• The Avon Corn Fest is held the second Saturday in August

• The Avon Inn, a Greek Revival Mansion, was built in 1820 to accommodate patrons of the Health Spa

• Both Cool Whip and Barilla Pasta are made in Avon

• St. Agnes Catholic School was founded 133 years ago

• Early feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton and former slave Sojourner Truth once spoke at the historic Avon Opera Block which recently received funding for renovations
